Boat Race Baptism for Postcode Anywhere

Fragrance Shop reduces cart abandonmentWorcester, UK - 05 June 2012 – Members of staff at Postcode Anywhere have proved that they are acclimatising to their new Waterside premises in Diglis Basin.

Since the company’s founding over a decade ago it had spent most of its corporate life in Hallow and riverside pursuits had not been something that the managing director and his team had considered. The move to Diglis has not only inspired them to purchase a narrowboat, but it has also fuelled a desire to participate in the 23rd annual Race the Dragon regatta.

The event takes place on Sunday 9th June and Postcode Anywhere will be joining crews from all around Worcestershire to battle it out head-to-head on the water. Many local businesses and organisations have been invited to compete for the prestigious Lea & Perrins trophy while raising money for a good cause.

CEO of Postcode Anywhere Guy Mucklow, who hopes that his team of enthusiastic, novice dragoneers puts up a good fight commented: “The Dragon Boat Race is a fantastic event for a very worthy local charity. Not only does it help to raise much needed funds, it also provides the participating companies with a fun-packed day that encourages team-work and friendly competitiveness. We are all extremely excited about taking part for the first time this year particularly as we are now part of the Waterside community.”

This year, the organisers have opted to support Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign. The Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign is a registered charity with the overall aim of raising £1.8 million.

Money raised will be used to fund the establishment of a new, dedicated Breast Unit at Worcester Royal hospital for use by women and men across Worcestershire for all breast related issues.

Last year’s Race the Dragon regatta event saw 21 teams compete in a series of races. Each boat can have up to 16 paddlers and even complete novices are encouraged to join in.

Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition which is all about working hard as a team and having fun which is all part of Postcode Anywhere’s corporate culture.  It is hoped that Sunday’s event will attract a good crowd as well as raising lots of money for charity.
