A survey of over the 1,068 UK consumers found that almost half said that they used this delivery method for Christmas presents this year, with the most popular category being fashion, gadgets and household technology such as TVs.
Interestingly, in comparison the findings also showed that the least popular goods for purchase using Click and Collect included the more bulky items such as furniture and kitchenware, with only 3 per cent of shoppers using this delivery method.
The findings show that there is a growing trend for this method of fulfilment, which will be welcomed by many retailers who see additional purchases made in store when collecting online deliveries.

At the same time, online shoppers are more demanding than ever, meaning that if they don’t receive the same level of convenience as the high street, they will simply shop elsewhere.

Two of the biggest barriers to ecommerce are the cost of delivery and inconvenient delivery times, making click and collect an increasingly attractive option for both shoppers and retailers alike.
“Growing confidence in next day fulfilment and the increased adoption of click and collect is also being highlighted as a contributing factor to shoppers leaving their present buying later than ever. Our figures from Postcode Anywhere's Big Data Labs indicate a peak as late as the 23rd of December.
